How to Save Time and Still Engage on Social Media

Social media is powerful tool that can help your business grow and attract new customers, it never shuts off and you can connect to your audience at anytime.  For a business owner that is already trying to find enough hours in a day it can seem like something that you just don’t have time for.  There are things you can do to streamline the entire process and still make it worth your while.

Automate as Much as Possible

There will be a number of gurus out there that will tell you that you shouldn’t automate, they are wrong.  There are plenty of social media management tools that can post at a scheduled time for you.  Check out MeetEdgar, Hootsuite or Buffer where you can create all your posts in one day and schedule them out for the entire month.

Quality over Quantity

Experts might tell you that you need to post to Instagram or Facebook at least 3-6 times per day in order to engage your audience.  While more is better, if you don’t have the time or inclination to post that much then make sure what you do post is quality content.  Business owners have a tendency to post things that only relates to their business and that is a mistake.  You can post memes, inspirational quotes or share content from other sites that your audience might enjoy.  Don’t forget to include a call to action in your posts.

Check Your Audience Insights

Platforms like Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn provide a great deal of data on which posts perform best and the times of day that you should be posting.  Take the time to study the data, find the best times to post and use it to engage your audience when they are paying attention.

Watch the Trends

Cashing in on trending topics that can be related to your business is a great way to grab some traffic.  Content that already grabs attention is perfect but you need to make sure that it is relevant to your audience.  Always encourage your audience to share.

Engage with Others

Starting a conversation means that someone has to say “hello” first let that person be you.  Don’t put all your social media efforts into making posts and spend some of that effort into liking and commenting on other people’s posts, it’s an easy way to get noticed.

Having active social media profiles can seem like a Herculean task even with all of the shortcuts in the world.  If this still seems like more work than you have time for then you might want to work with a social media marketing agency instead.
